Hello, longtime friends and followers of OCTV!  (I can’t type “longtime” without also saying, “Me love you long time,” which I totally do, and I can’t move on until it is said.  Whew.  OCD is hard.)

You may have noticed that posting has slowed down a bit here, but I wanted to let you know that we’ve been having behind-the-scenes discussions about the future of the site and where we want to go to it, and there will be big changes soon that should increase both the number of posts and the quality/fun factor of those posts.  What changes are these, you ask?

Well, first of all, for the most part, the weekly recaps are going away.  If any of the bloggers want to continue them, they most certainly can, but they may want to change up the timeframes that they publish them.  What we have all collectively decided as a group are the following things:

  • There are a zillion weekly recap sites out there, and sometimes doing it, even in our fun and hilarious, profananity-laced way, can feel a little like white noise.
  • Sometimes, there just isn’t that much to say about a show week in and week out.
  • Almost no one watches TV live anymore, and we want to make TV (and internet) experiences that are more in tune (heh) with how people actually watch TV now.
  • Writing the weekly recap basically leans to burnout and exhaustion, which means we have less energy to put into it.  This is the most important thing that we have to change.

So, after discussing all of this, we have decided that we are going to take a more free-form approach to our TV recappage and discussions.  Rather than doing weekly recaps, we might just talk about an episode that really stuck with us, or we might discuss episodes in chunks after catching up on the DVR.  We might catch up on a whole season or series of something on Netflix, and then talk about that.  Maybe we’ll compare two different shows, or just talk about one part of a show, or just do one post about why you’re missing the most awesome show ever.  We’ll have more time to collect pics and gifs and to think about what we’re writing, and it’s going to translate to an all-around better environment for us, as the bloggers, and for you, as the readers, so we’re very, very excited about it and can’t wait for our community here to reap the benefits.

Now, several shows will finish their recaps through the end of the season, just so you know what to expect.  I’ve already made an epic new drinking game to premiere before summer shows, I’ll be working on a new header for the site, and other than that, we are open to suggestions (which can be made in the comments below!).  Nicole and I are planning on our year-end wrap up that we usually do, and I think there is some stuff in the works for the Arrested Development events of the summer.  So all in all, a lot of exciting stuff coming up!

Well too damn bad, because this isn’t the third grade and I’m not handing out HJs.

Anyway, you may have noticed that things have slowed down a bit here.  This is because I have had so much shit to do that I can barely keep up with watching TV, much less blogging.  It happens.  Still, I like to maintain a somewhat regular schedule so for the time being, here is what’s going to happen.  I am going to cut down to three shows.  This will serve a few purposes–first of all, I think that the quality will be better with the quantity down.  Secondly, I’ll be able to catch up on DVR like a normal person when I get a chance, which at this rate … will be November.  And third, it’ll keep me from getting either totally burned out or totally out of rotation, neither of which I want.

Andy, Nicole, and Strunkette will still be doing their thing … doin’ it and doin’ it and doin’ it well, if I do say so.

So, which shows am I going to do, you ask?  My current favorite ones to recap–Vampire Diaries, Supernatural, and Glee.  You may (or may not) have noticed that I didn’t do SPN this week, but I loved it and I’ll combo it with next week.  Glee is a repeat this week and I’m not sure about TVD, but I think it’s back.

In the meantime, I’ll try to be a better Twitterer but I SO don’t promise. :)

Alright, so a few posts ago, Patti asked me which shows I’d be watching this summer, and I decided that it was such a good question that I was going to give it its own post and we would all share our summer TV addictions.  Fun, right?!?!

So, I’m going to tell you all what I’ll be watching, and then you tell me what YOU’LL be watching, and it’ll be great fun!  But before that, let’s have a brief chat on SPN rewatch ’10!

Alright, here’s the deal.  It’s the beginning of June, and I want to make sure everyone has a chance to get the DVDs, either by buying, borrowing, or Netflixing.  So, consulting my calendar, I think we should start on June 14.  I don’t know the return date yet, but I think if we chip away at it, we should be able to finish by the time it comes back doing maybe two episodes a day with weekends off?  What I’m likely to do is blurb it, share a few observations and point out key things to remember for later, maybe try to start a discussion or two, and then leave it up to conversation in the comments.  I think that’ll be the most fun way for all of us, and the spoiler rule will be that you have to write SPOILERS real big at the beginning of your comments if it contains any, so the n00bs can be on the lookout and avoid that.  Sound good?  If you’re planning on doing the rewatch, please let me know in the comments if you’re participating and if all that sounds good to you!  And if you want to chat about it on Twitter, we’ve been using the tag #SPNrewatch.  Tell your friends!  (And maybe Misha and Jim.  They should totally join us.  Maybe if we gang up on them.)

Okay, you guys.  Here’s the deal.  Not only was I so late posting about last week’s shows that I decided to do a roundup (because my parents were in town), but then I was late posting THAT!  I was just going to scrap this and not even bother but I know you all so well that I was sure that if I put it to a vote, you’d all just be like, what the hell, go on and post it!  So I’m going to.  Note that it may all be out of date, but whatever, AND there were finales to discuss. Chuck, Parenthood, and Glee posts are forthcoming, and Community from last week and HIMYM from this week have already gone up. So this is to whet your appetite … GOD, that’s a gross phrase. Anyway, here we go.

You know, in the first half of last week, I felt like I was just grumpy with TV.  And I definitely was, although there may have been other contributing factors, but don’t let me rain on your parade too much–if you liked something I didn’t, feel free to call me a stupid bitch in the comments, whatever, I don’t care.  Just don’t call anyone else a stupid bitch.  Unless it’s That Bitch Amy, and then okay.  Plus, I cheered up later in the week, so it won’t all be rain clouds.  Is that enough disclaimers for you?  Alright, then.

Alright, everyone, so my first week of work is down, second one is starting, and I think I’ve got a system going for keeping the blog going on a somewhat decent schedule.  Still, last week was kind of an adjustment and there were some things that got missed in the process, so I’m going to just do a little roundup of stuff from the last week that we didn’t get a chance to talk about earlier so we’re all caught up and ready to go for this week.  Ready?  Let’s do this.

The Amazing Race: Well, I was bummed the cowboys didn’t win, especially after In Bro/Out Bro threw continuous temper tantrums for the past two or three weeks, but sometimes life isn’t fair, and mostly I was just excited to see Jeff and Jordan again.  What can I say?  I’m consistent.

How I Met Your Mother: Strunkette is usually on this one and I think she might be doing a combo post this week (it was her anniversary last week, yay!  Congrats!), so I don’t want to say too much about the last one, just that I still wish that Don hadn’t been introduced to us the way he was.  No matter how great he is, he still seems … TAINTED.

Parenthood: God, Parenthood is so good.  But I’m going to make this as quick as I can, so–loved Adam and Kristina and how sometimes, you don’t get to pick your friends but occasionally these things work out better than you expect.  Loved Amber and Hattie being friends and Amber giving her encouragement about not doing it with Steve.  Loved Amber when she was talking to Steve, even kind of liked Steve, but obviously didn’t like her and Steve doing it.  Still, sometimes in life, shitty choices are made, and some people are prone to making constantly shitty choices.  Thankfully, this is a show with consequences, so I’m anxious to see how it turns out.  Glad Crosby and Jasmine defined their relationship (and loved Jabbar conspiring with Crosby to pretend he hadn’t seen him).  Did not particularly care for Julia using Jabbar to win soccer games, especially after trying to prove a point about not being competetive.  But Raquel is still a bitch.  Glad Sarah’s back in school, and sorry to be a snob, but I thought her Photoshop project was some cheesy shit.  But maybe that was the assignment–professors can have bad taste too.  The part with the parents was really tough to watch, but I was glad to see that the mom knows what’s what now, and I do imagine that, even though it’s a sad situation, Zeke living at Adam’s house will provide some serious comedy for me.

You guys … I am so, so tired.  So tired!  I know I promised a blog extravaganza this weekend but I am so fucking tired that all I can think of is a sleeping extravaganza.  I had a busy weekend with a lot of sun, which I’m totally not complaining about, but it does kind of wipe you out.  But the big thing is that my brain and my body are trying to adjust to a new schedule because I’ve got a temporary job and my body clock is SO off in terms of sleeping and eating.

I’m not really sure what the day to day is going to settle into being like, but I am committed to keeping OCTV going and hilarious, which will probably mean blogging in the evenings and may mean that the schedule is a little weird while I get things straightened out.  TVD and SPN are coming as soon as I possibly can, and I’m going to try to do Chuck tomorrow after it airs.  Meanwhile, all of the other OCTV contributors are at it as always, and I’ll be posting their reviews as soon as I can (which may also be on a bit of strange schedule.  Yikes.  All this to basically say … it’s controlled chaos up in here. :)

Thanks for being patient, all you peeps!

Hey everybody!  I’ve finally arrived in Tampa, which, as the title states, makes me an official Tampon now.  For the most part, everything went fine–we got in earlier today, got the van unloaded and returned, and ran some errands.  The downside of all of this, of course, is that I am so tired I just want to fall over and die, and needless to say, I’m not especially funny or creative right now.  But I probably will be again soon.  I am embarassingly behind on TV (especially for a TV blogger), but I have been watching as much stuff as I can and I’ll either try to do a round up, try to incorporate some stuff into the next posts, or just try to pretend that this past week or so didn’t happen.  One of those.  You’ll probably know when I do, because it’ll probably be a game time decision.

In the meantime, there is some good news!  All of my fun, friendly, hardworking blog associates have been way more on the ball than I have, and they have posts that, thanks to my sorry cargo van-driving ass, have been floating in cyberspace for the last couple days.  I’m scheduling them to start posting in the morning so you guys will have plenty of stuff to keep you busy while I try to catch up on my life and THEN my blog. :)  Enjoy those, and I miss you all and can’t wait to get back to a real schedule here!

Alright, everybody!  We’re back!  Am I caught up on TV?  No!  Am I excited to GET caught up on TV?  Yeah!  It’s kind of exciting, having so much juicy material to watch.  Usually my DVR is the TV equivalent of leftovers.  You know how it is.

I did watch The Amazing Race last night and I’ll be doing a post on that later this afternoon, and as a note to anyone who covers shows for OCTV and didn’t get them in this past week, no biggie–just do a combo post or a short catch-up before next week’s post and we’ll call it a day, cool?  Or if you don’t like that plan, go on ahead and send me the full post.  Whatever.  I’m feeling very free-wheelin’ today.

That’s about it for the housekeeping for now!  It feels good to be back!

If any of you feel like lately, I’ve had my head planted firmly up my own ass, well, you wouldn’t be wrong entirely.  So rather than just let you all think I’m a total space cadet (which, okay, is actually really true), I thought I’d let you know what’s going on with me.  As you may or may not have guessed from the title (which cracks me up, by the way), Billy and I will be moving to Florida at the end of March.  That is really soon, and there is a TON of stuff to do.

So if you notice me being flighty, or posting things a little late, or not participating as much in the comments, it’s not because I don’t love you or am getting bored with the blog, it’s just because I’m tired or busy or traveling around trying to find apartments or squeeze in visits or looking for cross-country movers that won’t rip me off or lose my stuff.  Once we get down there, I’ll be as bloggy as ever.  Just know that I love all of you, I think you’re very special, and I read all your comments and they make me totally happy, and I’ll chat as much as I can.  :)

In the meantime, we’re halfway into the last week of the Olympics and we haven’t had a very important group project yet, and that of course is drinking games.  So here’s my question, let me know what you think in the comments and I’ll get started on it probably tomorrow–do you think we should have one giant, epic drinking games post where everyone contributes all their ideas about any show, or do you think I should break them up into separate posts per show.  OR, third option, would you prefer I break them up into smaller groups, like by night or something?  Let me know in the comments, and like I said, we’ll get started tomorrow, so get your thinking drinking caps on!  (And yes, I did just recycle that joke, and I will again.)  COMMENTS!

Alright, friends!  You know I love “next on”s.  It’s as much spoiler as I ever allow myself.  I’m not sure it translates so well to the blogosphere, but whatever, let’s just go with it.

We’ve got a lot of down time coming up thanks to the Olympics, so I just wanted to let everyone know what to expect, as well as hear your thoughts on some stuff.

Alright, first things first, I am going to be once again taking this Wednesday opportunity to catch up on some commenting.  You guys have been SUPER KICK ASS with your comments and discussing (and regular cussing), and I can’t wait to jump in.  Hopefully while things are slow, I can be a comment maniac!  And so can you.
