Merry Christmas, everyone!  I hope it was good, including if you don’t celebrate it, but you know my Gentile ass does, and around here, we like to party.  And I couldn’t let the occasion pass without giving you a little something, a token of my appreciation, if you will, and so now, a rendition of a song we all know about a show we all love.  Sing along in your head, or if you’re brave/talented/drunk, merrily out loud!

Oh, fuck it.  Let’s just skip to the twelfth day.  That’s the good part.

On the twelfth day of Christmas my true love gave to meeeeeee …

Twelve Damons dancing!
Eleven Stefans brooding!
Ten Katherines killing!
Nine Jeremys pouting!
Eight werewolves turning!
Seven questionable parents!
Six sad Matts!
Fiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiive Vampire Barbieeeeeeeees!
Four blood bag juiceboxes!
Three witchgasms!
Two chunky monkeys!
and a doppelganger in a peeeeeaaaaaaar treeeeeeeeee!

There you have it, people!  Thank you so much for making my Christmas and my year awesome with all of your love, comments, Christmas cards, video chats, hilarious tweets, funny emails, and general awesomeness.  I’ll be sure to keep you all in mind when I inevitably get signed to a major label for my songwriting skills!

Hey guys!  Just wanted to give you a quick update on what’s happening with the Christmas bash.  It will still be this Saturday, but the time is moving up to 9p EST so that we can be less hungover for our various commitments on Sunday.  Notice I said “less”, and not “not”.  We will still be getting hammered, and also … my mom is participating.  Look out, world.

The main event is watching The Christmas Cottage starring Jared Padalecki as Thomas Kinkade, the Painter of Light himself, and we are drinking every time they say the word “light”, which is apparently comically often, so pick a drink that you really love!  I am still debating, personally, although you can’t go wrong with a good rum and diet.  All I know is, no beer.  It gets me too hungover, which is why I must now stick to hard liquor.

Also, because I switched the time, there won’t be a network showing of the movie then.  It didn’t really seem like anyone was going to be watching on TV anyway, so make sure to secure a copy by Saturday.  Target sells this bullshit, and it’s on Netflix instant play, which is how I’ll be doing it.  If you’re in Canada, or you’re in the US and don’t like either of those suggestions, feel free to offer other suggestions in the comments.  All I’m saying is, if it’s not legal, just email or tweet each other and don’t leave it on here.  I so don’t need anyone knocking down my door to arrest me over a fucking Thomas Kinkade boozefest.  Although that would be an awesome tale.

Kimber and I tested out Tokbox and it’s alright–kind of echoey but it works, especially if you keep the sound down, and we’ll all be able to see each other.  You don’t need to sign up for an account to join the chat–just keep an eye on my Twitter for the link, and I’ll post it here as well.  Any questions, comments, or whatever, leave it in the comments.  Woo!

Alright, you guys–you know how I’ve been bitching up a total storm about how I have time for NOTHING right now, but … come on.  Christmas Glee?  We’ve got to talk about it.

I have to say … I kind of loved the Grinch story.  And I am partial to the Grinch special anyway (cartoon version–live action creeps me out), and the very literal and yet also very Glee version of it was awesome–Sue slithering around, Becky as Max, Brittany busting in all Cindy Lou Who-style, the Who carol … LOVE.  It was all awesome.

And I loved Brittany believing in Santa Claus and how that story tied in with the Grinch.  It was really sweet, all of it–how excited Brittany got about Santa, how her parents and everyone else kept her believing … Coach Beast, so good, and of course, the Christmas miracle–Artie walking again.  It was all so good.  Believable?  Eh.  Who cares?  I laughed out loud when Artie realized what was happening and goes, “No. Way.” Cut to title card.  AMAZING.

Thanksgiving is over and we can officially get excited about Christmas!  I know my tree is up and I still have Randy’s Christmas ornament that I made her last year floating around somewhere waiting to be mailed.  Seriously, you guys, one little move across the damn country and you can never find anything again.  I’m hoping it’ll turn up with the Christmas decorations, because it is glorious.

Anyway, I was watching football earlier and caught some commercials for upcoming holiday specials tomorrow (Tuesday), including The Grinch, Rudolph, and the relatively new Shrek the Halls, and this got me REALLY EXCITED about Christmas TV specials, which is what we will be discussing today.  And, for purposes of discussion, we will also be including Christmas movies, since they get shown on TV all month long, as well as Christmas episodes of our favorite shows.

Mine, briefly, are The Grinch, Rudolph, Charlie Brown, It’s a Wonderful Life, Home Alone, A Christmas Story, Elf, A Very Supernatural Christmas, the British Office Christmas special, and Christmastime for the Jews, which I kindly posted a link to on my Twitter yesterday.  And oh GOD, last year’s Community Christmas episode and probably soon to be this year’s Community Christmas episode.  That show is GOLD.  And that was not brief at all, but what are your faves?  GO!

Brief sidenote, while we’re discussing Christmas specials and that’s what the OCTV Christmas Bash is all about–we will be having a test of the chat tonight at 9p EST.  I believe I just need to post a link on my Twitter and you all can click on it and join.  I’m not sure if you’ll have to sign up for an account or not, but it’s free, and this is part of the guinea pig process, so help a sister out!  Look for the link on my Twitter around 9, and thanks for helping out!

Drum roll please …

Well, you guys, I know you’ve been like DYING of anticipation over there ever since I announced that there would be an OCTV Christmas bash this year, and the moment has finally arrived where I tell you what it is that we’re doing.  I think you’ll find it a delightful combo of things we love around here–snark, drinking games, Christmas, TV, and Supernatural.  What could POSSIBLY bring all of these things together you say?  Let me tell you.

We are going to be having a group video chat where we watch The Christmas Cottage, a Lifetime made-for-TV movie about Thomas FUCKING Kinkade, starring Jared Padalecki of either Supernatural OR Gilmore Girls fame, whichever you prefer, as the Painter of Light himself.  And we are drinking every time they say the word light, which is apparently hilariously often.  But if that doesn’t get us drunk enough, we’ll add “Christmas”.  It’s guaranteed to be fucking terrible and I, for one, truly cannot wait.  Jackassery is practically guaranteed to ensue.

For added hilarity, I will be getting smashed at my parents’ house and going to my sister-in-law’s baby shower the next day.  I’ll have to try to be quiet so it’s not ideal, but we’ll make it work.

Okay, so here’s the deal.  You may remember me taking a Twitter poll on when to do this and asking a bunch of questions about Netflix and so forth.  I’ve decided to go with Saturday at midnight EST because that is one of the few times that The Christmas Cottage will actually be broadcast on Lifetime TV, and I’m trying to make it as easy as possible for everyone to join in.  If you don’t have Lifetime or if your time zone doesn’t coincide, Netflix is an option and they also have the option of watching online.  If you’re not a Netflix subscriber, maybe you can sign up for a trial?  Or build a time machine to 1997 and rent it from Blockbuster or something?  I don’t know, I’m sure there are ways to get hold of this.  And if you’re Canadian, maybe tweet @TONicole, as she has already locked it down.

We’ll also be starting at 11:00 EST so we can hang out a bit, let people show up, and break the ice a bit.  At this point, my goal is to use Tokbox, which I don’t think requires any downloading.  I’m not sure yet if it requires participants to sign up for an account or not, or really even how it works, but these are all things I want to find out, so we’re going to do a minor test run sometime this week, TBA–Nicole and I need to figure out a time that’ll work for both of us.  All I know so far is it won’t be tonight or tomorrow, but watch the Twitter for updates.  (Yes, THE Twitter.)

Alright, guys–discuss in the comments.  Who’s planning on joining, and how excited are you?  Go!

Hey guys!  It’s probably going to be a pretty light week around here since a lot of our shows aren’t on (although thankfully we have new HIMYM and Castle tonight, and Scrubs tomorrow), and even more so next week.  This is my last week in the office until I go on vacation for an entire week, woo!  But since many people will be in the office early next week with nothing to do, so I’ll try to keep posts coming and I think I’m going to continue the MMAQB questions each weekday through the 23rd or so.  Awesome?  Okay!

So, ’tis the season of sitting on the pervy mall Santa’s lap.  But if you could ask the REAL Santa for all things TV-related, what would you want?  Guest stars, plot lines, crossovers, banishment of cliches, retroactive Top Chef winners, series renewals, tell-all interviews, etc.  THE SKY IS THE LIMIT!  I have complete faith in all of your creativity.  Go!

OMG you guys, you have all entertained me SO much with your suggestions, and I love you all for participating–thank you MAJORLY.  I love you all and you make doing this website so much fun!

There were a TON of great ideas and I’m sort of hoping I can do more than one, but I can only promise one because my family thinks that they should get Christmas presents from me.  What a bunch of assholes, right?  But if I get any more made, I’ll let you know.

Alright, so last night with no new HIMYM and no new Castle, I had to watch SOMETHING.  Although I totally confess that I was excited about all of it.  My viewing last night included:

How the Grinch Stole Christmas.  CLASSIC!  I’ll probably catch it on TV again before December is out.  My favorite thing about it is always Max.  I love doggies, and he’s so cute.  I love when he does the exaggerated shoulder shrug, because sometimes I like to do that too, for comedic effect.  Plus, it got me all primed for all the other Christmas stuff I want to watch–Rudolph, Frosty, It’s a Wonderful Life … I have Elf and A Christmas Story on DVD, so I’m all set there, plus I have to watch Christmastime for the Jews on YouTube.  I love that one, and anytime I hear anything remotely Motown Christmas-sounding, I get excited thinking about Christmastime for the Jews.  Oh, and Charlie Brown!  I can’t believe I almost forgot that one.  What are you guys’ Christmas faves?

Uh oh, now you guys know that we’re in trouble since I created a category called “Commercial Break” to encompass all the miscellaneous crap that isn’t directly related to a TV show.  Yikes!

Anyway, as many of you know, I’ve been doing an excessive amount of crafts in preparation for Christmas, and it might be crazy, but I’ve decided to bring it to the blog, in the form of a contest!  One lucky reader will be the recipient of a SB-made (or ho-made, if you will) Christmas tree ornament!

Now, I know that none of you know if my handiwork is any good and therefore it might be crap.  That’s a chance you take, but at least it’s something in the mail besides a bill, and if it’s that bad, you can laugh about it with your friends and coworkers before throwing it on the yule log.  I make no promises of quality!  Because hello, that would be totally out of character.
