After last weeks pilot, I honestly did not know what to expect for this week’s episode. I figured some more secrets would be spilled and someone would die. I mean, that’s basically all that can happen from now on. The episode, once again, starts off with a flashback to 1968. A strange man comes to the door and asks to come in because he is “hurt”. The girl, being dumb, lets him in. Sure enough he begins to attack. He first kills off the house nurse by drowning her in the bathtub. Lovely. He proceeds to force the girl who let him in to change into a nurse outfit. Weird nurse fetish? I think so. He ends up stabbing the girl to death.

Fast forward back to today. Ben gets a phone call from a woman claiming she is pregnant. Obviously it is the 20 something year old he had an affair with. She’s not the only one who is pregnant though. As I predicted, Vivien is pregnant too. Ben thinks it’s his kid. I think not. It’s definitely that weird demon’s who Vivien had sex with last episode. She can even feel that “something is wrong with the baby”. Ben decides to fly out to Boston later in the episode to be with the affair girl while she gets an abortion. Of course, as a man would, he lies to Vivien. He says he needs to help an old patient who tried to commit suicide.

When I first joined the bloggers of Off-Color TV, I immediately asked to cover American Horror Story. Not only because Ryan Murphy, the creator of Glee, is part of it, but I had seen a few commercial previews and could tell that it would be a show like no other. That’s exactly what it is. It’s not just another show about struggling teenagers, dramatic doctors, or crazy reality TV stars. It’s probably one of the most sick, twisted shows I have ever seen on TV before. Every single person seems like they are completely out of their minds and insane. I would like to say that it really is a show for adults. No thirteen or fourteen year olds should be watching this! There is honestly so much that went on in this first episode that I fear (pun) that I can’t cover it all! I will try to sum it up as best I can.

Here it is … the moment I have been dreading. The season finale of Awkward. I couldn’t imagine a better way for MTV to end the season then with a winter formal dance. Just imagine all the drama that can happen! Go on … take a minute. Who is going to ask Jenna? What will she wear? How is Sadie going to ruin her night? The options are endless! Why wouldn’t Matty tell Jake he was going to formal with Jenna when Jake admitted he wanted to ask her? I mean, I thought the word was out! I thought Jenna and Matty were officially together!

Jenna Hamilton is nominated for Winter Formal Princess?! At first, you think that’s a great thing until … BOOM! It’s ruined, as I probably should’ve guessed. Someone printed Jenna’s anonymous letter to the back of the ballot sheets! I guarantee a copy of Jenna’s letter was in the folder Sadie snatched from Valerie’s office. (And I was right, yay!) She is such a conniving bitch that totally deserved to not be allowed at the dance. Once again, Jenna is the laughing stock of the school. Of course, Jake is there to Jenna’s rescue and not Matty. He really needs to step it up! Matty asking Jenna to blow off the dance only further proves that he doesn’t want to go public with Jenna. This is getting old, Matty.

Last week’s episode of Awkward ended with the twist of Tamara claiming she wrote the anonymous note to Jenna. I anxiously waited for this past week to blow by so I could discover who truly wrote it because there’s no way Tamara did. For some strange reason I am starting to believe Jenna’s mom wrote it. I mean, it’s pretty obvious. She handed it to Jenna immediately after she returned from camp and has always tried to break Jenna out of her little shell of a life. Does anyone else agree with me?!

Of course, this week’s episode, “No Doubt,” did not include a grand revealing of the writer, so now it feels like we’ll NEVER know. Instead, it starts with Jenna getting bitch slapped by Sadie’s blonde bimbo friend whose name I don’t even know. It was the “slap heard across the quad” according to Tamara. Anyway, Jake’s girlfriend has finally found out that Jake kissed Jenna and yet, they stay together! Girls are so stupid! Even after Tamara slapped a cold Sun Drop—which I happen to see in every episode—on Jenna’s face to comfort her, she proceeded to proclaim they weren’t friends. That soon changed, however, with an awkward confrontation of Tamara accusing Matty of writing the letter. WHAT?! No way! He couldn’t have! Or could he?

MTV’s new show Awkward is, as Tamara would say, P.F.M.—pure freaking magic. It’s a show most teenagers can relate to; what with the unrealistic crushes, crazy school counselors, and even crazier parents. On the most recent episode of Awkward, which happened to air thirty minutes later than usual because of an extended episode of the ridiculous Teen Mom, Jenna Hamilton turned sixteen. When the show started I assumed she was a junior or senior in high school, but—clearly—I was  wrong. This must mean MTV has high hopes for the show and will continue to a second and possible third season. *Fingers crossed*

What I love about this show is how different it is. Normally on a TV characters’ sixteenth birthday there’s an outrageous party that costs more than a wedding or a Jake Ryan-type chasing after the birthday girl simply because it’s her special day. Instead, Jenna experiences several acts of embarrassment that are completely beyond her control: the overly cheerful Valerie raps and presents a cake to Jenna in front of everyone in the cafeteria (might I add, the rap was quite good) and the bitchy Sadie throws a milkshake all over Jenna’s chest. Let me just talk about Sadie for a minute. I absolutely cannot stand her character. Yes, I understand that she isn’t necessarily supposed to be liked, but she is one bully that really drives me nuts. Every time she says “You’re welcome” in that annoying tone, I literally just want to punch my TV. But I refrain …
