American Horror Story. Smoldering Children.

They’ve done it! American Horror Story has captured my full attention once again! For a week or two I was starting to shy away from the show, but last night’s twist totally got me in love again. No matter how bad I want to jump right into the twist, I’ll have to hold off until I explain everything else… there isn’t much. The whole show seemed to drag on a little last night up until about fifteen minutes or so before it ended.

Honestly, I wish they would put Constance away in an institution rather than Vivien. She is completely whacked out of her mind. Don’t the police and investigators see that everyone she is connected to has died? Granted, she hasn’t killed all of them, but she is definitely a man source. I mean, who shoots and grinds up their husband to feed to dogs?! That is just beyond disturbing. She didn’t even show Addy any true love her affection until she died. She is horrible, but I guess her character adds a lot to the show. Although Hayden was the one to murder Constance’s boy toy, for some reason Larry felt the need to say he did it in order to prevent Constance from going to jail. Yes, I know he loves her but still. I absolutely loved the scene where Larry had a chance to see his burned children and wife once again in the house. It was so heartfelt. His wife seemed to not want to have anything to do with Larry. For a second I thought he was going to find a way to get killed in the house in order to join them in eternity. That is until his wife completely told him off about him having an affair. That’s what he gets now I guess. Jail time.

Not much more happened until the twist. You’d have to be really good in order to catch this without them telling you because once revealed, everything made sense. Violet is dead. Violet has been dead… for a while now. Does anybody remember the scene in the bathtub of her and Tate after she swallowed a numerous amount of pills? Tate was trying to save her by sticking his fingers down her throat. It shows that she comes to life and fine and normal again. Wrong. In that scene she actually died and instead, was reborn into death. She has missed sixteen consecutive school days and it all makes sense now. She can’t leave the house, even if she wanted to. Tate has been convincing her to stay home in order to avoid her from finding out she is dead.

Instead, Tate tries to get her to “commit suicide” which would just be an easier way to tell her that she’s dead. Tate dressed as the Rubber Man and chloroformed Ben to buy some time. She tries to run away screaming “Help! He’s trying to kill me!” (I loved this scene too) Violet tries to run out of the house but is incapable. As soon as she runs out of the door, she circles right back inside. It’s very trippy because she just doesn’t understand. Tate explains that she has been dead. He tried to get her to throw up, and she did, but not enough. He also confesses that he is dead to her. Now they can be the cutest ghost couple ever! I seriously don’t know why, but I just love Tate’s character. He is so great for some reason.

I am beyond excited for next week because Vivien will return home and her babies will be born! Everybody wants a baby, so who will get one?

The whole trapped in the house thing confuses me.  We’ve seen Tate leave the house and grounds and go to the beach.  Also, other people on the street have seen the ghosts when they’ve been outside the house (the gay couple for example), but when Violet was yelling for help it was obvious the other people on the street didn’t see her.  I wish they’d either be consistent or explain some of the “rules” to us.

Dayna, I know at least part of that is that they can only leave the house on Halloween. That’s when Tate was at the beach, and when the gays were wandering around.

Great recap, Jenna! I absofreakinglutely loved this episode! Constance aside — you’re totally right. SHE needs to be in an institution — this show is all about Tate and Violet for me now. It has been for several weeks. I am in love with Tate. Up until the reveal, he was kind of scaring me, but whenever that kid cries, omg. God Bless Evan Peters.

I was totally thrown for a loop with that reveal too. See, this whole time I thought Tate was lost, that he didn’t know he was dead (and Constance even said to Violet episodes ago that she needed to help Tate realize he was dead so he could move on. Doesn’t that bitch know it doesn’t work that way?!). It never once occurred to me that Violet was dead. That’s just… I am so impressed. I was so disturbed by the whole thing, but I am in love.

I need more Tate and Violet. I can’t wait to see where they go next!
