Monday Morning Armchair Quarterback. Christmas Wishes.

Hey guys!  It’s probably going to be a pretty light week around here since a lot of our shows aren’t on (although thankfully we have new HIMYM and Castle tonight, and Scrubs tomorrow), and even more so next week.  This is my last week in the office until I go on vacation for an entire week, woo!  But since many people will be in the office early next week with nothing to do, so I’ll try to keep posts coming and I think I’m going to continue the MMAQB questions each weekday through the 23rd or so.  Awesome?  Okay!

So, ’tis the season of sitting on the pervy mall Santa’s lap.  But if you could ask the REAL Santa for all things TV-related, what would you want?  Guest stars, plot lines, crossovers, banishment of cliches, retroactive Top Chef winners, series renewals, tell-all interviews, etc.  THE SKY IS THE LIMIT!  I have complete faith in all of your creativity.  Go!

Well, the Arrested Development movie is high on my list, but I don’t know if that counts as TV. I would like to see the two final seasons of Gilmore Girls redone in a way that would make me happy. I would LOVE for Square One to be on, just once more in my lifetime, or on DVD of something, and, haha, I am getting greedy, but if Seeley Booth showed up on my door in a bright red bow, I would not turn him away.

Oh, and this has nothing to do with Santa, but I read over on GMMR that the CW is doing a marathon of The Vampire Diaries, starting tonight. I haven’t watched any of them, but I know you have, so I was wondering if you would recommend getting into it. I am pretty anal about watching shows in order, so if I am going to do it, I think now is probably the time. Thoughts? If you had it to do over would you still watch?

  • Nicole

Sarah, do it!!!! I didn’t start watching the Vampire Diaries until most of the first part of the season had aired and like you I have to watch things in order. I caught up in like 3 days because I was so addicted. It’s great – I’m not a Twilight fan and I was worried it would be Twighlight: The Series (and the pilot is a little bit, but way better), but it’s not. It’s funny, dramatic, and there is much hotness to behold. And Damon Salvatore will become your new obsession. Give in!

I’ll have to think about my wishlist more. When I read the question my first thought was Dwight Shrute selling paper to Ron Swanson, but the I dont think Pawnee is in DM Scranton’s sale territory, so I will try to come up with something else. The real reason I wanted to comment is because your pervy Santa comment made me think of this website and I felt the need to share – http://www.sketchysantas.com/

Being the True Blood fanatic that I am my first thought was that I wished they had put Eric in the pink spandex like in the books. LOL But that isn’t too creative so I will try to think of something else.

  • offcolortv

Seels, I made you an entire post in response but the long and short is HELLS YEAH!

  • offcolortv

Hee! You guys have come up with such funny/great stuff. And hilarious link, Scott!

Seels, AD movie totally counts and I hope you get everything you wished for. :)

Maybe DM can rezone their areas–Pennsylvania isn’t THAT far away from Indiana, in terms of regions.

And OMG, Marthapao, I remember that scene from the book. Wow! That would’ve been a sight! I feel like the TV show has done a good job of toning down some of Charlaine’s horrible fashion descriptions though, because good god, how many silk shirts can exist in one town without a black hole vortex of hideous being created?

Oh, I totally just realized what I want for Christmas from TV Santa. I want more characters to have pets. It’s just so weird that no one does (except for Dee and her cat, which pretty much lasted one episode and was there to make her a crazy cat lady). Well, there’s Shelby on Smallville, too, assuming he’s still around, because I’m about two seasons behind.

But like … can’t Supernatural have a dog that stays in the car? Maybe someday, after the apocalypse? Or I bet Chuck would LOVE a dog. Maybe if he’d had company all those times he WOULD have stayed in the car. Can Elena get a cat? Or can Pierce have a mouse that lives in his pocket? SOMETHING. I like pets. They’re such a normal part of my daily life, that I want them to be normal in TV life, even just as part of the background.

  • marthapao

Shelby is still around but poor dog, must be lonely. lol Back to True Blood Sookie did have a cat but it was gruesomely murdered. hehehe I think (what is Kat Graham’s character name?) well she needs a cat to go with the whole witch theme. lol
And I agree Charlaine Harris has horrible horrible fashion sense, hahaha most of the time I think Sookie dresses a bit too much a la Pretty Woman.

  • offcolortv

At least Shelby has the poor neglected cows to commiserate with! And you’re right about Sookie. Plus, she had a dog for like one night, but then he turned into naked Sam Merlotte, so that doesn’t really count. And you’re right! Bonnie needs a cat. Or an owl. :)

Ooh! Good Monday Morning Q … I just wish I hadn’t have been too busy at work (damn work!) today, and could have read this earlier! Oh well. I’m happy you only have ONE more week and then holidays … that’s so exciting, and ME TOO! It’s been such a crazy-assed month, so I’m insanely happy (seriously – almost insane!) to be off next week to eat, read, eat, watch TV, eat, and catch up on DVDs! Ooh … and eat!

Well, if the Pervy Mall Santa promises not to touch my bathingsuit area … I would ask him to bring back Pushing Daisies, because I think those kind folks need work, and I need cheer. But you know, Santa isn’t God or anything, so he probably can’t make that happen. Otherwise … can I wish for some of the pretty TV people under my tree? Doesn’t have to be the real actors, but I’ll settle for characters! Short list: Damon Salvatore, Will Shuester, Angela Montenegro, Dean (and even Sam) Winchester … and Peter Bishop. The end, thanks.

  • Patty

If we can wish for people under the Christmas tree? Dean THEN Sam, Damon Salatore, Neil Caffrey, Michael Westen, oh! and Seely Booth please.

For TV wishes, I wish Santa would make TNT show repeats of Supernatural at 11pm. I have the DVDs but some on? Supernatural on TV everyday?

Also I would wish for a DVR that never ran out of space.

  • http://www.twitter.com/kimbergrace Kimber

Ooh, I’d like to second the wish for Supernatural on TV every day. And on a channel that us Canadians get too, please? Patty reminded me that I’d also like to ask for a PVR. Please, Santa baby, please? My trusty old VCR isn’t going to live forever! (And having just seen the No More Mr. Nice Spy commercial, can I ask for Chuck Bartowski and John Casey under my tree as well? Thanks!)

  • marthapao

Ok so if we are talking about shows being on everyday, then my christmas wish would be for some shows to not have season endings, and for the shows to just keep getting better with age, just like good wine or scotch. :D
I would be so happy to not have these stupid mid-season breaks and then to have to wait for the new season to start. Even if they didn’t have the show on everyday I would love to see them every week of the year. LOL

By the way you are so right about the poor animals on Smallville!! I know he’s superman and all and get the chores done super fast and all, but poor neglected animals. hahaha And for Sookie, now that I think about it, Sam does sort of feel like a pet because he’s always around to show his affection for her even if its not reciprocated.
LOL and too funny about Bonnie, I can see her with an owl.

  • Nicole

Patty and I are going to have to share custody of the people we’d like under our trees, lol. Except…who is Michael Westen? Must be a show I don’t watch – Patty you can have him and I’ll take Noah Puckerman and Jason Stackhouse (they each have half a brain so they only count as one).

I second a limitless DVR, and also one that can tape more than 2 things at once.

I would also wish that shows would go back to having like, y’know, full 30-ep seasons, with only a couple of breaks for holidays, etc. And the return of full-on sweeps, which seems to have gone by the wayside these days. Remember when shows were on almost every week during the regular season? And they premiered in Sept and ended in May? And there was no such thing as the bullshizz now known as a “fall finale”? Good times.

Oh, and I would consider it a personal favour if Leno got cancelled.

Oh, and this is totally aging me and making me sound like a complete loser, but I really want Kate & Allie to rerun. I worshipped that show as a kid and I want to watch it again. And I would totally love it if the Golden Girls was on every day (it’s not currently re-running at all where I live) right before bed. It’s such a comfort-food show and srsly funny. Those bitches are fierce.

  • offcolortv

OMG, you guys are SO GOOD AT THIS! Now you’re making me want more stuff too! Here’s all the stuff that I totally second: pervy mall Santa not touching my bathing suit area, Damon, Winchesters, Pushing Daisies, Supernatural everyday, unlimited DVR (and a DVR/PVR for Kimber!), Casey, shows age like a fine wine, no hiatuses, Puck, more than two programs recording at once, 30 ep seasons, and LENO CANCELLATION (yes yes yes!).

Also, the Kate & Allie request reminded me how much I’d love for Taxi reruns to be on again. God, do you guys remember when Nick at Nite was awesome, and it actually had old shows? I liked those days. Roseanne is good, but George Lopez? No thanks. TAXI! TAXI! TAXI! I seriously love that show.

  • Randi

I would seriously like to have additional seasons of Gilmore Girls and Veronica Mars. I don’t watch Gossip Girl anymore so I get almost zero Kristen Bell on a weekly basis (until Party Down is back, at least). I miss her and want her back. I also miss everything about Gilmore Girls. We watch TV to fall asleep and Gilmore Girls season 1 has been back in rotation. Paul started cracking up about office supply humor last night. How precious is that? I need more of it.

The AD movie is high on my list too. I need more Bluths. I’d also like more viewership for Better Off Ted and for more non-cable TV shows to get nominated for awards.

  • Nicole

Hey Randi – I still do watch Gossip Girl (don’t know why tho) and I constantly forget that Kristen Bell is even associated with it – they’ve pretty much reduced her contribution to the intro at the top of the ep – there’s not a lot of Gossip Girl text blasts going on anymore.

But I’d be totally down for more VM and more GG (as in Gilmore) at any time. And actaully, I’d love the full series on dvd but I’m not dropping $250 bucks to get it (I already have 1-3 on dvd so it just seems dumb to buy the whole set now).

And I have to second the AD movie wish. We NEED more Bluths, banana stands, Bob Loblaw, Egg, Franklin, Seaward’s, loose seals, Lucille 2, seals for marksmanship, Mrs. Featherbottom, and all the rest in our lives.

  • Patty

I am on the Leno cancellation train! Toot! Toot!

Michael Westin is on Burn Notice. You know, USA knows some hot dude characters!

You can have Jason (even with his total hotness) Noah (can’t place the name but it sounds familiar) because Micheal Westin his hot AND smart and I love that!

  • http://www.thedigitante.com Andy – The Digitante

I can’t wait for the Tom and Abed show. Its going to be awesome!

  • offcolortv

I’d tune in to see what names Tom could come up with for Abed (as he does with Rontonamo Bay). :)
