*Can I just say I’ve never heard of a shot ski and had to look it up on the internets. Am I really that sheltered?

Finally we get some action and a finish that was unexpected. The race begins in Africa but they are soon on to an Amazing Race first, Copenhagen! While they are told they have flights already arranged most try to find something faster. Team Adventure immediately decide to just go to London and figure it out from there. Everyone else remains on the flights to Amsterdam. Once in Amsterdam everyone but Team Ex-NFL find a flight that gets them to Denmark that night. Amani & Marcus don’t even think about checking on different flights and decide to sleep. Must I reiterate the number one rule on TAR. Always make sure you can see another team at the airport. Especially if you were all together at some point. It’s called a race for a reason. If not for a desination in Copenhagen that opened in the morning, Team Ex-NFL would have been SOL. Lucky for them they were only an hour or two behind and not twelve. The race would have been over before they even got on the plane.

It's a bird, it's a plane, it's the clue...

The first task of the day was to climb to the top of a church and find their next destination. These types of “spy the clue” challenges always give someone fits. Most teams figured out the flags quickly. Unfortunately for Team Who? the clue on the roof was pulled back and forth so sometimes it was visible and sometimes it wasn’t. They ended up with only half a clue and headed out in the wrong direction. Jeremy and Sandy finally figured it out but not before Marcus and Armani were able to catch up.

ROADBLOCK I often get jealous of an activity the racers get to do and this would be one of them. One member has to dress up in period costumes, makeup and hair included, and complete three dances. I would say this seems like a no brainer for the women to do, but that would make me sexist. Ernie, Cathi, and Zac are the first three to arrive and get their dance on. Ernie and Cathi fly through the roadblock. Poor Zac apparently has two left feet because he struggles.  Team Snowboarders were fourth coming in and Andy is vying for a spot on Dancing with the Stars so he easily finished before Zac. Marcus & Amani once again tried to lose the leg by getting lost on the way to the Roadblock and not asking for directions. Everyone in Denmark speaks English so you really should never get lost! Both Team Who? and Team Ex-NFL eventually make it to the Roadblock and both girls complete the task easily.

DETOUR All Hopped Up OR All Churned Out I know that animals are the devil on the race but it would have been hard for me to turn down the rabbits. When will you ever have the chance to do that again? Anyway the choices were to set up a steeplechase and then each team member race the bunnies through the course or churn butter and make six sticks with a mold. Ernie and Cindy were the first ones there and they immediately choose to churn butter. Team Old People arrive as they are finishing up. This is important because today has another DOUBLE U-TURN.

Suck it,Team Adventure!

Team OCD are the first to the U-Turn and Cindy is determined to use it. Ernie isn’t convinced, but Cindy doesn’t blink. She chooses Bill & Cathi because she wants a win damn it! Bill and Cathi finish churning butter only to find out they have to go back and race bunnies. They’re not happy, in part, I think because Bill and Cindy had a bit of a heart to heart at the Roadblock. Cathi decides they should U-Turn Laurence and Zac because they know they are back there somewhere. I respect them for not choosing Amani and Marcus. Not only because I like them but also picking the team that (you think) is dead last is a bit anti-climatic.

I would normally try to finish talking about the Detour before moving on to the Pit Stop, but this leg was all over the place. The teams finally get rid of the cab drivers only to realize having a local drive you around isn’t as bad as it seems. No less than 3 teams got lost driving in Denmark. Either they picked the wrong person to navigate or the roads are really confusing. So Ernie and Cindy easily get their win and will be living it up in Fiji after the race. Even with being U-turned Bill and Cathi get second with Team Snowboarders close behind. Then there is the last three.

Even with all their struggles Amani and Marcus, who had the best time with their bunnies, were able to pull it together and get 4th place. That leaves Team Adventure and Team Who? Laurence and Zac chose to churn butter and seemed to have no problem with it. They then get U-turned and Laurence is beyond pissed off. They get to the bunny hop as Marcus and Armani are finishing. Meanwhile Team Who? are churning butter as Laurence and Zac leave. Both Team Adventure and Team Who? get lost trying to get to the Pit Stop. I really had no idea who was going to get to the finish line first. As the music builds Team Who? come running to the mat and it’s the end for Team Adventure. They knew their fate as Laurence says they were lost for 2 hours. It’s a disappointing end for the world travelers. I’m happy to get rid of Laurence and feel a bit bad for Zac. Best get back to sailing boys.
