Alright, so last night with no new HIMYM and no new Castle, I had to watch SOMETHING. Although I totally confess that I was excited about all of it. My viewing last night included:
How the Grinch Stole Christmas. CLASSIC! I’ll probably catch it on TV again before December is out. My favorite thing about it is always Max. I love doggies, and he’s so cute. I love when he does the exaggerated shoulder shrug, because sometimes I like to do that too, for comedic effect. Plus, it got me all primed for all the other Christmas stuff I want to watch–Rudolph, Frosty, It’s a Wonderful Life … I have Elf and A Christmas Story on DVD, so I’m all set there, plus I have to watch Christmastime for the Jews on YouTube. I love that one, and anytime I hear anything remotely Motown Christmas-sounding, I get excited thinking about Christmastime for the Jews. Oh, and Charlie Brown! I can’t believe I almost forgot that one. What are you guys’ Christmas faves?
Hoarders. I had one taping late last night while I was in bed, so I can watch it maybe tonight. You guys, I LOVE this show. Love it. Billy hates it–it’s one of the few things I watch that he gets truly mad about, because he thinks it’s disgusting and exploits people who are obviously mentally ill (which it totally does). But I cannot stop watching, and I don’t think it’s just the trainwreck factor. I truly find it fascinating. I worked for the health department at one point, taking complaints in the housing department (mostly about grass being too long, although every day was colorful, I can tell you that), and occasionally I’d see pictures of hoarders’ houses and they were WILD, and totally people you’d never suspect, like nurses and regular, functioning members of society. I just think it’s interesting. But I meant what I said on my Twitter–it’s good for me to watch Hoarders and remember to clean my house so I don’t end up living in filth and having a bathroom covered in human shit, because, as the internets say: DO NOT WANT. I’m cluttery, and kind of a packrat, but living in filth is not my idea of a good time so I must take heed.
PAWN STARS! The new season has started up, and you guys, I love this show. If you don’t watch it or haven’t seen it, you really need to. It’s on the History Channel and it’s a show about a guy who runs a pawn shop in Las Vegas with his old man and his kid. It really doesn’t seem that interesting on paper, but it’s EXTREMELY entertaining. It’s got a little bit of everything–history, trivia, family bickering, a barely functioning moron (shout out to Crowley!)–that would be Chumlee–wheeling and dealing, restorations, and grown-ups playing with toys. There’s seriously something for everyone on that show. Billy mentioned liking it because Rick (the main guy) is “obviously really, REALLY smart, but he’s also a little white trash”. I think Billy can relate, because he too is very smart (as are several of his relatives), but comes from a very blue collar background.
Plus, you guys, and I am serious about this–it is so damn funny. I have a series recording set up on this because it’s just so good. They bought a Shelby sportscar on one of the new episodes last night, and The Old Man (that’s what he goes by) was standing next to it, and he’s like, “If you want to be a real man, take a racecar out on the track and drive it around at 200 MPH. If you don’t shit yourself, then maybe you can call yourself a man.” And then he took it on a test drive and probably never even broke 30. Hee! Rick and Big Hoss (the kid) and Chum gave him so much shit about that, and I loved it. The Old Man might be my favorite. They had two new episodes on last night, and we didn’t make it to the other one before Billy had to go to bed, so I have something major to look forward to tonight.
SERIOUSLY. Do it for me. Just record an episode on your DVR (or PVR, Canadians) and see what you think, because I swear to God himself you’ll find yourself enjoying it. It’s good quality TV, at least as entertaining as anything on Bravo or the Food Network.
Alright, that ends the randomosity. You guys can either respond or add your own randomosity in the comments, but you know I love comments so bring it!
