After last weeks pilot, I honestly did not know what to expect for this week’s episode. I figured some more secrets would be spilled and someone would die. I mean, that’s basically all that can happen from now on. The episode, once again, starts off with a flashback to 1968. A strange man comes to the door and asks to come in because he is “hurt”. The girl, being dumb, lets him in. Sure enough he begins to attack. He first kills off the house nurse by drowning her in the bathtub. Lovely. He proceeds to force the girl who let him in to change into a nurse outfit. Weird nurse fetish? I think so. He ends up stabbing the girl to death.
Fast forward back to today. Ben gets a phone call from a woman claiming she is pregnant. Obviously it is the 20 something year old he had an affair with. She’s not the only one who is pregnant though. As I predicted, Vivien is pregnant too. Ben thinks it’s his kid. I think not. It’s definitely that weird demon’s who Vivien had sex with last episode. She can even feel that “something is wrong with the baby”. Ben decides to fly out to Boston later in the episode to be with the affair girl while she gets an abortion. Of course, as a man would, he lies to Vivien. He says he needs to help an old patient who tried to commit suicide.
Ben gets a new patient by the name of Bianca. Girl’s whacked out. She tells Ben that she has had this one particular dream over ten times:sd She’s in an elevator. She gets trapped. She attempts to climb out. As she is almost completely out, the elevator magically comes back to life and crushes her legs and cuts her in half. Sounds like something out of Final Destination to me. Oh and she also confesses that she knows about the past murders. Uhh… creepy!
A little side note for you to remember: Constance bakes up cupcakes for Violet. She poisoned them with a special syrup that makes you get instant stomach pains and possible internal bleeding.
And now for the finale… of the episode that is. Just like in 1968, there is a knock at the door. Keep in mind this is while Ben is out of town. There is a woman at the door begging to come in because she has been attacked and is bleeding. Vivien is actually smart and refuses to let her inside. Welp, that does nothing for her. Somehow she and two others get inside the house. They take off their masks. Don’t ask why. They try to get Violet into a nurse outfit and she tries to refuse by hitting one of them and running.
Somehow Tate is in their house and pulls Violet out of the way. In the meantime, Vivien is tied up in her room with the man. Bianca, one of the intruders, eats one of Constance’s cupcakes and immediately starts vomiting everywhere and becomes useless to the “reenactment”. This whole scene is too weird for me to handle.
The other girl, Fiona, tries to get Violet into the tub and drown her just as the old nurse was. Violet explains that the original tub is now in the basement so it won’t have the same effect. Fiona believes her and makes her way down. Bianca is then axed in the waist (which cuts her in half just like she feared in her dreams). I thought she was axed by Tate, but they later explain that the original girl and nurse who were murdered did it.
I feel as though Tate, the maid, and Constance are in some sort of sick alliance. They all decide to clean up the murder of Bianca and hide her six blocks away from the house. I think they all may be spirits of the past murders or something along those lines. The very last line of the episode was Vivien telling ben “we are moving out” of the house. Yeah, finally, cause the first ten clues from the first episode weren’t convincing enough. Let’s see how next week goes and who survives just a little longer. Not too sure how I feel about this show yet. I like it, but there is always so much going on that it’s almost hard to keep up. I don’t know if it’ll last to a second season. [Editor's Note: How can it possibly? Unless they keep the house but change the entire cast, I can't see it. - Nicole]
