Calm down Matty! It’s okay. Hey y’all, it’s Laura/twinkiesandwine. HBC gave me the responsibility of the roundup this week while she’s off gallivanting on a much deserved vacation. We do have the same tendency to include a lot of gifs, so the usual warning applies. Let this puppy load for a while and then come back to soak it all in.
We’ve got most of the usual suspects*, including Bunheads, Grimm, Pretty Little Liars, Suits, Awkward, The Newsroom, plus some extra surprises like Burn Notice, Rookie Blue and some others. *Since I did the recap of the True Blood finale, I put most of those gifs in that post.
This one’s actually from last week’s Falling Skies finale, but it was requested, so (I apologize for the creepiness. The rest of the post is much better, I promise!)
Here’s some gorgeous Silas Botwin to make up for that.
I’m so glad Nancy and Silas have gotten close again. It seemed like for awhile there that they were really going to be broken.
The tip to North Carolina made me miss both the state (my Dad’s family is from NC) and Hart of Dixie.
“I like the South. Legacies. Tradition. We don’t have that up North. We have sarcasm. And iced coffee.”
“I think this crew could use some pancakes.” … “Yeah he’s right. You’re like a care bear.”
Bunheads! This was predictable, but I was still cackling at it.
This show is always the best when we get to see 2X TONY WINNER SUTTON FOSTER be her Tony-winning self. “Maybe This Time” is pretty much Michelle’s theme song.
I’m not crying, I just have some pretty!mace in my eyes.
Even though I’m (outside) Portland born and raised, I couldn’t get into Grimm last season, but I did watch the first 2 episodes of S2. I really want to go hunting for their filming crew around the city. Sasha Roiz, you are still way hot, but I miss your Caprica gangster tattoos. You may continue ripping your clothes off though.
Speaking of doofuses…

Spencer is my PLL spirit animal.
Oh, Awkward. I don’t know about you. I’m Team Jenna! Feminism, fuck yeah! Actually I’m probably more Team Sadie.
Or Team Clark. His wave to the crowd is perfection.
Was it a stipulation of Donna’s return that for every amazing outfit she has to wear a sort-of ugly one? Because her white dress with the photo-prints on I covet, but this shoulder-pad thing is a mess.
The stoned antics were fun, but a little much. Maybe I’m just grouchy.
It’s starting to feel like the new ‘jump the shark’ is ‘Game of Thrones reference’.
Surprise show #1! Rookie Blue! I love this adorable little Canadian cop show. It’s got a great cast, and a good mix of humor and drama. They also do an amazing job of pairing characters in surprising ways that end up being amazing. For instance, this week Nick was Andy’s “break-up buddy”, and it was so funny and cute, even though they haven’t really ever had a scene together before.
I don’t know, I think sometimes you can just tell when the actors on a show really are friends and like working together? And that’s fun to watch.
Speaking of shows no one seems to talk about: Burn Notice! What I love about Burn Notice is that it never tries to be anything it’s not. It’s not like, award-winning, but it’s solid every week, and it’s fun and Fiona is such a BAMF. I love it.
Perfect badass couple is perfect. I love that this is their version of “take cover”: toss detonator + hug.
Poor Cinerella Jesse.
Anybody catch the premiere of this new show Copper? It’s BBC America’s first original series. It’s sort of got a Gangs of New York/Deadwood-y vibe. There’s Franka Potente and Anastasia Griffith as the awesome ladies, and a plethora of dudes with fun facial hair and dodgy accents. This is the main guy, who looks eerily like Cappie from Greek.
Cute guy getting schooled by a nun.
One dude’s got a glass eye! And another is missing half a leg! There’s also fun old-timey vocabulary words like “bespalled”, and 19th century forensics!
And then there’s my downfall: the surrogate father-daughter relationship.
The Newsroom! I have this weird affliction where the more people (in general) seem to hate some things, the more I’m determined to love them. I don’t know why, and it’s not an ironic, hipster sort of love, it’s real love. The Kardashians are one way this presents itself (Kourtney is the best), The Newsroom is apparently another. My enjoyment of episodes had a direct correlation to the amount of hate!tweets I read before I watched it.
Tess is the best tertiary character, yes? “Is anybody here an expert on Sex and the City?” “The tv show or just-? The tv show.”
Oh my god, she is so cute.
And crafty.
I can’t with all the feels. I WAS NOT EXPECTING THIS.
If I had to bet, I would bet that Don will cheat on Maggie with Sloan, or at least attempt to, therefore proving Sloan wrong about Don being a “bad guy”. It will be ironic and complicated.
Seriously, I know after 1×06 when Sloan melted-down and Don supported her, or 1×07 on the plane some people (yes, me) were thinking there could be something between them, but I would not have ever guessed they would go there even a little, at least not this soon.
Another one of those “the more people hate it, the more I love” things? Olivia Munn. Seriously, like her Daily Show stuff? I liked it. And I was looking forward to her on this show even though everyone else thought it was terrible casting and then everyone was like “oh, shoot, she’s kind of awesome”. Yeah, suck it haters.
These feels, however, I knew were going to happen. And I knew it wasn’t going to go well because this is TV and Sorkin is mean. But at least we got this?
I’m so glad Mac is around to beat these dumbasses over the head with various objects.
And finally there was all these Mac/Will feels.
“Screw it. I’ll just feed him another 10 cookies.”
These two are the best when they are snarking, though.
It seems right to finish things off with Sam Waterson(‘s Glorious Eyebrows) and their wisdom.
Alright y’all. That’s it for me. I’m off to Disneyland next week for my 5 days of vacation this year.
Barring any other pinch hitting, I’ll be seeing you in a couple weeks for the premiere of Revolution, which I’ll be recapping, and two weeks after that for Once Upon a Time. I am excited. If you want to chat in the meantime, you can always hit me up on twitter.
On a serious(er) note, it has been a genuine dream being able to be a part of the OCTV community these past few months. I love TV, and also y’all.
(One final thing: I do want to take a second to say that a. I have no talent in gif making and these are all made by other wonderous people, and b. every one of these is a direct link to the original Tumblr post, so if you want to reblog/share it, please do it from there so the original maker gets the credit they deserve. <3)
