THE VOICE. Quarterfinals. Adam & Cee Lo Elimination. I LOVED Juliet’s Wings.

WTF!?!? And of course THIS girl would love Juliet's wings.

  • Florence + The Machine–Florence Welch can sing. There’s no denying that. Team Cee Lo joined in, not that you would have notice if not for the camera work.
  • I don’t normally watch the lounge interviews but I had to stop to try and figure out what was going on with Lindsey Pavao’s face. She had white eye liner that went across her nose (see photo.) Is that a thing now?

TEAM ADAM #1? Tony Lucca. After the reaction Monday night it’s not a big surprise. I even started typing his name before Carson said his name. Katrina and Mathai will sing for their lives.

Mathai “Cowboy Casanova” She’s no country singer and can’t hold a candle to Carrie Underwood. It was alright but not the knockout performance needed to guarantee her spot in the final eight. Blake liked it. Christina saw the nerves coming out.

Katrina Parker “Perfect” Oh, this could be awesome for her. Great song choice. The music was too loud and she got drowned out sometimes. I still think it was a better performance than Mathai. I think it’ll come back down to who Adam thinks can win. Blake says he knows Tony got America’s vote, but Katrina is really the best singer on Team Adam. Xtina 100% agrees and gets a Tony dig in while she does it. She also says out of all of the Team Adam members she’s most excited for original music from Katrina. Cee Lo thinks she sang with a lot of “clarity and conviction” in these stressful circumstances.

Adam talked about both and their strengths throughout the competition. He says the decision is based on who he’s seen more from over the life of the show. I thought Christina dragged out her decision out but Adam takes the cake. He even called himself out about taking forever. It seemed he was going to pick Mathai but he surprises me and saves Katrina Parker.

TEAM CEE LO #1? Jamar Rogers. This one was a bit tougher to call. Cee Lo really does have the best team. I don’t think Cheesa has a chance, but I’ve been wrong before.

Cheesa “Already Gone” Was the song in a different key? The wrong key? Why did it sound so off in the beginning? Another Idol alum’s song that wasn’t as good as the original. That high note was pretty good, but then she screws it up trying to come off the note. Blake said it was flat throughout much of the beginning but she was able to pull it together in the end, i.e. the big note. Christina agrees and says she was a hair under pitch the entire song. Hence my concern. She was so consistently off-key I thought it was intentional. Ha! Adam tells her he can’t say much because he’s off a lot too. Quit trying to make her feel better.

Juliet Simms “Torn” She’s really going to have to fuck up in order to lose to Cheesa at this point. I freaking LOVE this song. I just noticed she looks down a lot when she sings. Is she looking at something? Is the crowd down there? Where’s the eye contact? Girl, the voting audience is up here! Other than that little quirk the performance was good. She worked the stage, she tried to get the crowd more involved, and she sang the song really well. Blake explains that he didn’t get her at first and why everyone turned around but now he sees it. Christina wants Juliet to go back to how she sounded on “Roxanne.” Xtina isn’t liking where her voice “sits” during the verses lately. I would have to agree.

Cee Lo hasn’t even opened his mouth and Cheesa looks like someone killed her dog. She has to know she didn’t do enough. Cee Lo tells it like it is. Cheesa has a voice and on a show that’s called The Voice it would be ironic if she didn’t move forward. On the other hand Juliet is America’s favorite. Her voice is like art imitating life and life is imperfect and we’re all living that life and that is why America’s energy is invested with Juliet and he can’t argue with America. (Pretty much a direct quote. Run on sentence and all.) He chooses Juliet Simms.

The final 8 have been selected:

TEAM CHRISTINA: Lindsey Pavao & Chris Mann

TEAM BLAKE: Erin Willet & Jermaine Paul

TEAM ADAM: Katrina Parker & Tony Lucca

TEAM CEE LO: Juliet Simms & Jamar Rogers

America loves males. Or at least those willing and able to vote for a contestant on a reality singing competition love males. Every single team had a guy as their number one. Only one would I question, Chris Mann. Can a girl win one of these? I’m starting to think not. Agree? Disagree? You know what to do…

Oh yeah – Katrina is in the semi-finals! I’ve followed her since the beginning and was blown away this week by her performances. I think she will be the surprise win. She is the best singer in the top 8.

Yes, America (the viewers ) have picked the only males left on the teams and all the coaches have picked chicks,  because they instantly eliminated all the other guys. I didn’t think Tony Lucca had a prayer of winning the voice, but after he sang “Hit Me Baby, One More time”, even I downloaded the song. I’m reluctant to make a prediction because a lot hangs on the next performance.
