Tonight Adam and Cee Lo get a chance to show off their teams. Adam was amazed by a few of Cee Lo’s artists and was pissed they didn’t pick him in the blind auditions. Blake was acting like the grumpy old man that doesn’t understand teenagers and had to be three sheets to the wind. Christina continued her streak of tasteful makeup and geometric patterned dresses. Though she did feel the need to sing to Karla. Overall, the night was not as good as last week. The best show would be Christina vs Cee Lo for production value alone. Adam and Blake would be a bit boring. Without further ado…
Katrina Parker “Tonight, Tonight” They want to get away from the Adele comparison and they give her that Adele hairdo? Failure. She’s no Billy Corgan, but it wasn’t bad. I thought the music was too loud because I strained to hear her. Cee Lo explained it well. Her performance wasn’t tortured enough for the song.
Tony Lucca “In Your Eyes” Does anyone really believe he chose to not be as famous as Britney, Justin, and Christina? Let’s be real. Overall, he sounded good, though was he high fiving those kids in the front row or slapping them? It looked a little forceful. Christina was giving a bit of shade. (Can you tell I’ve been watch too much RuPaul’s Drag Race?) She called him one dimensional and wants the show to be about The Voice and not “celebrity sway.” Apparently Justin has been giving him a lot of support. “There are better voices on the show.” Wow, how does that knife feel in your back, Tony? Do you think she’d be saying the same thing if he was on her team instead?
Kim Yarbough “Rolling In the Deep” No, just NO! Leave Adele alone people! You will never be as good as the original. Your only chance is having a distinct voice that sounds nothing like Adele. Kim had this squinty, mean face the entire song. Was that suppose to convey anger? It looked more like pain to me. I was not impressed. Blake and I agree that the chorus was sharp. Cee Lo didn’t like the song choice either.
Mathai “Ordinary People” Starting a cappella, I’m impressed. What the hell was up with the black and white photos of her in the background? I actually enjoyed her singing and the performance was fine but the staging… I already thought she was conceited. Christina called it too “lounge-y.” She does have a great unique voice (unlike Erin Martin) but she rubs me the wrong way outside her singing.
Karla Davis “Airplanes” So my brother told me she is a fairly big YouTube sensation. He’s watched a lot of her videos. Maybe she was just made for singing in her bedroom? I just don’t see it here. She has little to no stage presence. Christina called her the biggest surprise of the night and liked the runs she added. Blake didn’t like the song for her. Adam really hit it on the head. She’s great when she in a small room, but nerves and everything else means she doesn’t sing to her full potential on stage.
Pip “When You Were Young” Bowtie and a leather jacket? No. The red
leather pants aren’t going to help rough up your image either. I don’t know. I wasn’t impressed and after 10 performances I need to be dazzled. The staging needed something besides a double staircase. Christina wanted so much more from him. He needed to bust out. Adam decided it wasn’t dirty enough and he needs to be less trustworthy or something. I don’t know I stopped paying attention.
Man, Team Adam’s not looking so hot. I think the best performance came from Mathai. I think she will be safe along with Tony. I can’t even venture a guess as to who will be the other person saved by America.
TEAM CEE LO
Cheesa “Don’t Leave Me This Way” Well, that was a Cee Lo produced performance if I ever saw one. Disco, glitter and possibly crystals around her eyes, and a neon leisure suit? Total Cee Lo. I may have said bad things about her in the past, but Cheesa showed she can sing. It was better than any disco I’ve heard on any other reality TV show.
James Massone “Don’t Know Why” I don’t really see Nora Jones in him, but that’s probably the point. He’s got the range though he struggled to hit
some a lot of the notes. It was to his advantage he had all those screaming girls around. It drowned him out. I will never get over the headband. Ugh! Blake said he almost threw his panties on the stage. Blake would wear panties. Everyone seemed to shy away from criticizing him. I would fear the wrath of the tween tweets, too.
Juliet Simms “Roxanne” Oh, boy what is she going to wear tonight?? I can’t wait. The girl did not disappoint. I call it Aztec arm fringe. Juliet rocked it out. She worked the stage and sounded great. Though, did you know that song was just “put on the red light” over and over and over? I sure didn’t. I tend to belt the ROXANNE a lot more at home. It must have been the arrangement. I swear she said it 18 times. A rival judge, Adam, called it the best performance so far. Christina called it DOPE.
Tony Vincent “Everybody Wants to Rule the World” Ugh. This guy. I wanted to approach this with an open mind but he’s just too much. I didn’t think his voice sounded all that good. And then all the stuff with his face was awful. Blake said the staging was confusing and he couldn’t concentrate on the singing. Christina thought there were vocal restraints with the song, but she loved the production. Cee Lo admitted his fault with the vocal stuff, but loved the performance.
Erin Martin “Walk Like an Egyptian” From the first notes she sounds awful. Dressing like a slutty pharoah does not change that. The staging was fun. Blake pointed out the male strippers. Adam said Blake just bought a ticket to boner town. HA! Christina is all about truth speaking. She wanted more from Erin and if she wants to be judged for her voice and not her looks she needs to do more. I think she needs to wear more clothes.
Jamar Rogers “Are You Gonna Go My Way” Pip take notes. This is how you rock. He didn’t look like he was trying too hard. It was natural. Except for his dye job. That was not natural nor rocker. The last high note was killer. The crowd was on fire. I think many of the judges gave him standing ovations. Blake was questioning the stilts. Adam told Jamar he “embodied what this show is.”
Jamar was definitely the big winner of the night followed by Juliet. I think James will be the other one safe from Team Cee Lo, but it should probably be Cheesa. Hopefully Erin and Tony will go home tomorrow.
